A Date with Downtown Huntsville
It’s February and love is in the air, and that includes love for our wonderful city of Huntsville. For the past four years, the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau has hosted a social media campaign to encourage people to share what they love about Huntsville. To help kick off the #iHeartHsv campaign this year I’m going to take you on a date with the delightful area of downtown Huntsville. Whether you are visiting for the first time or have lived here your entire life, you’ll be sure to fall in love.
Downtown Huntsville has so much to offer! The first stop on our Huntsville date would be to enjoy the stores located downtown on as part of Clinton Row on Clinton Avenue. Alone, with friends, or with your significant other browse through stunning boutique-clothing stores such as, Roosevelt & Company: Gentlemen’s Supply Co., Elitaire Boutique, or Awe Boutique.
Each store offers unique styles for women and men. Don’t forget to cross the street and travel back in time as you browse U.G. White Mercantile while sipping on a coke from a glass bottle or snacking on yummy taffy.
After all that shopping, I’m sure you’ve worked up an appetite. You don’t have to travel far to find delicious food downtown. Walk just a couple blocks and you will find a number of Huntsville’s unique local restaurants. Wanting a romantic dinner for two? Head on over to my new favorite place and Huntsville’s newest wine, bourbon, and fine dining experience, Purveyor Huntsville. Enjoy a smooth glass of wine paired with a steak that has been cooked to perfection.
To finish off the night, delight in the nightlife that Huntsville has to offer. Let’s follow up that decadent wine you drank at Purveyor, with a flavorful drink at SiP, Huntsville’s very own fine whiskey and cigar establishment. Not much of a whiskey drinker? No worries, SiP specializes in all types of drinks — from my favorite drink, the Bourbon Mule, to the light gin-filled Bees Knees. Just ask for Huntsville’s own award winning bartender, Akinde, and he’ll make sure your taste buds are happy!
Now tell me you didn’t just fall in love with Downtown Huntsville?

Although Kaitlynn moved pretty regularly while growing up, she calls Huntsville home. Like many Huntsvillians, Kaitlynn works for a small defense contractor on Redstone Arsenal as software developer. Her passions outside of work include traveling, concert going, and volunteering with the Feline and Canine Rescue Center, give256, the Junior League of Huntsville, as well as other local non-profits. When given a free moment, Kaitlynn can be found lounging on the couch enjoying watching a movie with her dog, Hank.
