TBEX Craft Beer Events

In less than a month Huntsville will be hosting travel bloggers, writers and photographers from across the country at the North American Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX). Huntsville has rolled out the red carpet and is looking forward to showing all of the attendees what cool and geeky things the city has to offer, which of course, includes lots of craft beer.

Alabama has a burgeoning craft beer industry and nowhere is that more pronounced than in Huntsville, so here are several craft beer events for TBEX attendees to get a taste of what the city have to offer.

All of these events are free to registered attendees.


May 3 – Wednesday

Hops, Helix & Huntsville

Time: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Attendees can experience some of the best of what Huntsville has to offer at this one event: science and beer. This is a mini brewfest with participants experiencing beer from nine breweries and four bottle shops, as well as sample tasty treats from several local eateries. You can also walk the Helix Trail at HudsonAlpha, a track in the shape of the double helix, which includes signs to tell you facts about each of our genes.

Bikes and Brews: Brewery Tour

Time: 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

This 6-hour guide bike tour will take to participants to 4 to 5 different local watering holes. Free bikes are provided to TBEX attendees. This is a leisurely tour that covers 5 to 7 miles of easy riding through Huntsville’s picturesque downtown area and plenty of beers to try along the way.


May 4 – Thursday

Free the Hops and Redstone Arsenal MWR Present

Time: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The grassroots organization responsible for completely changing the craft beer landscape in Alabama is hosting this event at Redstone Arsenal. Attendees will visit the army post, while enjoying locally crafted beer from an array of local breweries.

Opening Night Party at the Lumberyard

Time: 7 p.m.

The kick-off of TBEX promises to be an exciting evening of craft beer, southern cuisine, live music, dancing, an arcade and much more. The party is located in a 100-year-old lumberyard, which was refurbished into an entertainment venue. A.M. Booth’s Lumberyard is a quirky and unique venue, perfect to welcome the TBEX attendees.

May 5 – Saturday

Closing Night Party at Campus No. 805

Time: 7:30 p.m.

All good things must come to an end, but TBEX closes out in style at Campus No. 805, an epic event center and craft beer haven. The 13-acre campus houses two breweries: Yellowhammer and Straight to Ale, restaurants, arcade/pinball rooms, bars, taprooms and much more.
